The Charitable Foundation of the Islands (CFI) is proud to announce the return of its Generosity Breakfast, taking place Monday, November 16, 2026, at the Sundial Beach Resort & Spa on Sanibel Island in celebration of National Philanthropy Day. Presented by the CFI Board of Directors, the morning brings island residents, business leaders, and nonprofit partners together to celebrate the generosity that makes Sanibel and Captiva what they are — and to invest in what comes next.
Sanibel Captiva Community Bank returns this year as the exclusive corporate sponsor of the Generosity Breakfast, continuing a partnership that helped launch the event in 2025, when more than 175 guests gathered for the inaugural celebration.
The 2026 program features keynote speaker Lynne Wester, the presentation of the 2026 Generosity Champion Awards, and stories of impact from CFI's 2026 Community Impact Fund grantees. Guests will also be invited to help set the 2027 Community Impact Fund priorities, naming the emerging needs they see across the islands and investing in the solutions.
Wester's keynote, You Matter More Than You Know: One Person, One Community, makes the case that a community is not built by a few large gestures but one person, one moment of caring at a time — and that every one of those moments counts for more than the giver usually realizes.
In the true spirit of generosity, Sam Boren and Steve King, the 2026 Spirit of Generosity Co-Chairs of the event, are underwriting the Generosity Breakfast, allowing every dollar from ticket and table sales to go directly to CFI's Community Impact Fund. Longtime supporters of the islands, Boren and King have backed the Conservation Foundation's shoreline protection work, Community Housing & Resources' efforts to keep neighbors housed, and CFI's loan program for local entrepreneurs. Boren serves on CFI's Board of Directors.
A special thank you is also extended to the Sundial Beach Resort & Spa for underwriting the event venue. Their support ensures that proceeds from the breakfast go straight to work in the community.
CFI is deeply grateful to Sanibel Captiva Community Bank for stepping forward once again as exclusive corporate sponsor. Since opening in 2003, the bank has contributed more than $5 million to over 400 local charitable causes, supported hurricane recovery efforts throughout the islands and across Southwest Florida, and invested in initiatives that strengthen the communities we call home. This commitment extends beyond financial support, with bank employees contributing nearly 1,000 volunteer hours each year.
"Supporting the communities we serve has been part of our mission since the bank was founded. Whether through financial support, volunteerism or community partnerships, we're committed to helping the islands and Southwest Florida thrive. We're honored to serve again as the exclusive corporate sponsor of the Generosity Breakfast and to stand alongside CFI in recognizing the neighbors whose generosity shapes these islands." said Kyle DeCicco, President and CEO of Sanibel Captiva Community Bank.
"The Generosity Breakfast shines a light on what makes our islands special: the wholehearted gift of time, talent, and treasure. We are grateful to Sam and Steve for underwriting this year's breakfast, to Sanibel Captiva Community Bank for their continued leadership as our exclusive corporate sponsor, and to Sundial Beach Resort & Spa for hosting us once again." said Dolly Farrell, Executive Director of the Charitable Foundation of the Islands.
